  RC's and IC's: Are buses the new profit center?

  locally there was a very strong push for everybody to ride the bus to the international convention.

  they discouraged driving to the stadium and were not as crazy about booking rooms through the society.

  my guess is that they are getting a cut of the bus fares that they organize.

  Locally there was a very strong push for EVERYBODY to ride the bus to the International convention. They discouraged driving to the stadium and were not as crazy about booking rooms through the society. My guess is that they are getting a cut of the bus fares that they organize. They even try to make whole congregations ride the same bus, even though family members would like to go together when from different congregations.

  They said the parking situation was terrible, as they said for many other conventions. Yet there is no problem with parking for football games with twice the attendance. They must not get a kickback on the parking anymore.

  Is it for control or money, or both?

  Seriously considering stepping down as Elder

  i have been an elder for 6 years.

  it's been the last 2 years or so that i've really seen the hypocrisy, but the ability to know the shenanigans of the society through the body of elders letters has kind of kept me in there.

  i'm to the point now that i can't stand the hatred and bitterness that the body of elders has towards myself and my whole family.

  Dear Tigersuit,

  I disagree strongly with the self loathing comments that some have told you to repeat to yourself. It is not a helpful thing to dwell on the past, especially if you were born into this religion.

  When you are a born-in, you have no field of reference to determine if it is right or wrong. You just naturally trust your parents and the elders in your congregation. It was your normal. What I liked about Ray's books is that he is just telling his story without vitriol or malice. As a JW that I gave it to said, "It is not an apostate book, is is just his memoirs."

  I ended up reading all CoC in less than 48 hours after getting it. I experienced ambivalent emotions when reading it, a mixture of anger, frustration, relief and pain.

  I recommend that you be kind to yourself and heal. Welcome to JWN!

  I have been looking after my local peaceable kingdom. I feed the birds, and they know who feeds them. I have a nesting pair of robins in my tree out front, and have been feeding many sparrows too. When I take my dog out, they all get along.

  The pope apologized to a group today -- has the GB ever done that?

  its teachings that are compulsory have been relaxed numerous times over the years.

  " comely" is a word i think should be used more often".
